1. Introduction

Welcome to Handwriting to Text ("we", "our", or "us"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting any information collected through our mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how it is stored, and your rights regarding your personal data.

By using the Handwriting to Text application, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

A. Images and Document Data (Core Functionality)

Photos and Camera Input: When you capture or upload photos of handwritten notes, documents, or import PDF files, these images and documents are processed solely for the purpose of extracting text (OCR recognition).

Local Storage: Your scanned images, recognized text, and conversion history are stored locally on your device. We do not build profiles of your handwriting or retain your personal document contents on our servers after text extraction is complete.

B. Device and Usage Information

To ensure app stability and optimal performance, we automatically collect certain technical diagnostic data:

  • Device model, operating system version, and language settings.
  • Unique device identifiers for analytics and crash diagnostics (e.g., Firebase Crashlytics / Analytics).
  • App feature usage statistics and performance metrics (e.g., number of scans performed).

C. In-App Purchases and Subscription Data

Subscriptions and purchases are processed directly by Google Play Billing and managed via RevenueCat. We do not collect or store your credit card, debit card, or bank account details. All transaction records and receipts are managed securely through Google Play.

D. Advertising Data (Free Version)

The free version of the app may display ads served by Google AdMob. Google AdMob may use standard advertising identifiers (Google Advertising ID) and cookies to serve relevant ads in accordance with Google’s Advertising Policies.

3. Device Permissions We Request

To provide our core OCR and document export services, the app may ask for the following permissions:

  • Camera: Used to take pictures of handwritten notes and documents directly within the app.
  • Photo Library / Storage: Used to pick existing images and PDF documents from your gallery and to save/export converted text files (PDF, Word, TXT).
  • Internet Access: Required for AI recognition processing, remote configuration updates, subscription verification, and advertising.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

  • To accurately convert handwritten notes, images, and documents into editable digital text.
  • To allow you to format, edit, copy, and export documents to PDF, Word, and text formats.
  • To manage daily free scan quotas and verify Pro subscription privileges.
  • To monitor app performance, fix bugs, and release stability updates.
  • To comply with legal obligations and Google Play Developer policies.

5. Third-Party Service Providers

We partner with trusted third-party service providers that comply with international data protection standards:

  • • Google Play Services: App distribution, license verification, and in-app billing.
  • • Firebase (Google LLC): Analytics, crash reporting, and remote configuration.
  • • RevenueCat: Subscription status verification and receipt validation.
  • • Google AdMob: Monetization and ad serving for free tier users.

6. Data Security and Retention

Local-First Privacy: Your scanned text and document history remain on your mobile device. You have full control to delete individual history entries or clear your app data at any time.

Encrypted Transmission: Any network requests (such as AI OCR queries or subscription status checks) are transmitted via industry-standard SSL/TLS encryption.

7. Children’s Privacy

Our application does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately so we can remove the information.

8. Your Data Rights (GDPR & CCPA Compliance)

Depending on your jurisdiction, you have the right to:

  • Access, review, or delete your locally stored documents within the app settings.
  • Reset your Google Advertising ID via your Android device settings.
